I am Pinnacle bound next weekend, along with about ten other people. At least once a year I have to go to Pinnacle Mountain in Arkansas. It's this incredible rock formation that just seems to appear out of nowhere. And the trail is amazing. The last mile of the trek is almost straight up. There are points along the way that are 80+ degrees. You have to use your hands and feet to pull yourself up to the next boulder. We affectionately call this type of hiking bouldering or scrambling. The people that I am taking with me next weekend are regulars. We get together often for a hike. Although I have climbed Pinnacle many times, next weekend will be the first time I climb it barefooted. I am really looking forward to it. I normally climb it in trail shoes or sandals so this will be a true experience. One other member of our crew hikes it in sandals, so maybe he will take the challenge and hike it barefooted with me.
